Some of the largest and most prized fish have been caught in Little River, South Carolina. This has made it one of the most popular fishing destinations in South Carolina

You might sample some of the fish in local area restaraunts, as during the winter months commercial fishing is in full swing. During the summer months many will take advantage of the charter fishing tours available in the area. These guided tours enable amateur anglers to pull in some large catches and even in some cases take them home. There are several types of charters to choose from, including party boat fishing, allowing larger groups to experience light rod and reel fishing. There are also private charters designed for the more serious and experienced angler. These trips generally provide for some of the more challenging catches.

There are different types of charters in Little River, and it helps to know the differences before planning a charter fishing trip. Half day trips are usually closer to the coast and fishermen will catch fish that are located in the shallower waters of the coast. Full day trips and gulf stream trips are longer and will take you into deeper waters, where the fish caught are habitats of the area. Fish generally caught on the trips include, black sea bass, snapper, grouper, larger sea bass, trigger, dolphin, wahoo and king mackerel.

Fishing is an important part of the life for those living in Little River and visitors love to take advantage of this experience and glimpse into the lifestyle of the Little River fisherman.
